TRAVEL STORIES

I owe a lot of my creative inspiration to my fortunate opportunities of traveling the world. From a young age, I loved falling asleep on planes and waking up to different languages, streets, food, and building structures. Here are a few of my favorite and more recent travel experiences documented through journal entries, film cameras, and iPhone pictures.

renewed in Japan

March 2023

My first real solo trip across Japan. From Tokyo to Kyoto and Mount Fuji during peak cherry blossom season, I felt the sense of renewal I finally needed. I decided to take my pictures from my film camera and video clips to make vintage magazine pages.

maple leaf amtrack

November 2022

I love trains. Watching the scenery pass by makes me feel like I am living out my "Main Character Moment". Visiting friends and exploring on my own, I traveled through Boston, Portsmouth, Cape Cod, New York City, Niagara Falls ON, and Toronto.

This was also a very emotional trip for me, spending a lot of time with your thoughts on a train listening to Coldplay would do just that. But having a moment alone with the sunrise on Niagara Falls surrounded by beautiful fall leaves made me so grateful for everything I get to experience, even the heavy emotions.

Zipping through swiss

August 2022

My sister and I decided to crash our parent's trip through Switzerland in the summer, and they were definitely glad we did. I mapped out towns we explored during the week to ensure we experienced all the different regions in Switzerland. From Zurich to Montreux, we went hiking and paragliding, and ate so much cheese and bread, loving every minute of it.

On a personal note, as we were in Grindelwald, I was able to go on hikes without needing my pocket clutch (my inhaler). Maybe it was the pure Swiss air, but it was a milestone that was monumental for me.

(Miss.) Thailand

May - June 2022

One of my friends decided to enter the Miss. Thailand pageant and was unexpectedly feeling homesick. To the rescue, I packed my bag and made my way over. Not only did I get to experience the lively night markets in Bangkok, but her family took me to their beautiful fruit farm and a coastal beach town where we climbed a mountain with monkeys and swam in the warmest ocean I've ever been in. I was in awe of everything from the people, food, mall culture, and lush greenery everywhere.

SPAIN by Train

Feburary 2022

My best friend moved to a small town near Barcelona during the pandemic, and I finally got to visit her. Everything about this trip was memorable; from exploring small towns each day, accidentally breaking into a castle, getting lost on trains, trudging through the mountains, and eating an incredible amount of pan con tomate.

snow beach vacation

Holland, Michigan

December 2021

My family and I got away for the holidays and spent a week at the beach in Holland, Michigan. All I can say is that I love the beach in the winter. It's eerie yet peaceful and forces me to do something I am usually uncomfortable with - nothing.

Roadtrip to montana

May 2021

COVID put a pause on my international travel for a while, but I was so excited to experience states in my own country I hadn't before. I hiked through the Badlands, Yellow Stone, and finally got to Montana - right near the border of Canada. Going in the springtime, I experienced all four seasons on my two-week journey.

Salmon & Sheep

Finland, Estonia, Ireland

August 2019

While in University, I was invited to join a two-week business course taught at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland amongst 20 other students. On the weekends, we went to explore the Sipoonkorpi National Park and tried the most incredible salmon soup (I've only ever tried this one but I believe it is the best).

One day trip to Estonia was incredible to see how mighty one small country can be.
After my course, I went to visit my friend in County Mayo, Ireland. Life on the Irish farm and mountains was so peaceful, and the locals were so excited to see someone like me enjoying it as much as I was.

invitation for political conflict

Israel & Palestine

March 2019

I was selected to be a participant in a political conflict retreat while at University. We were to learn firsthand from students how the political tensions in Israel affect their lives and their hopes for the future. Not only was this extremely eye-opening, but I formed a great community of people on this trip despite their political views.

walkING through history and wonder

Poland, Amsterdam, Iceland

January 2019

For my 21st birthday, I wanted to do a winter Europe trip to see the history that I loved learning about and a wonder I wasn't sure I'd be so lucky to see. I went to visit Auschwitz and felt emotions that I had never felt before. I walked through Anne Franks' house and gained a new perspective on a book I love dearly. And after staying up at a lighthouse until 3 am, I got to see a glimmer of the northern lights which was an absolute dream come true.

"this is where your dad was born!"

Kissamu, Kenya

June 2013

I was 15 when we finally went to Kenya to meet some of my dad's side of the family. We saw the small village where he was born in Kissamu and stayed on my uncle's rose farm. It was a dream I never knew I had. Everyone was happy and excited for us to see their country. My love for animals doubled while we explored the safari and met the most wonderful people.
